On May 23, 2015, our local arena, heart of our community, was consumed by flames and totally destroyed. Over 50 years of history and memories that we carry with us of times spent in this building is all that we have left now. Gone are dozens of pictures, trophies and special memorabilia that can never be replaced. Even more overwhelming, was the realization that the children who relied on that building to create their own memories was gone. But...the great people of Perdue, as they’ve done in the past have rallied together.
Our steering committee will “One Rafter at a Time”, rebuild memories for our new arena.
The fundraising committee has been gathering information regarding grants, discussing lotteries and other fundraising ideas.
The building committee has been on the road checking out newer rinks and gathering information as to what is best for our community.
Homes for our local hockey teams and skaters for the 2015/16 season have been offered to us by the communities of Biggar, Harris, Asquith and Maymont.
Everyone is coming together and determined to have our teams and skaters on the ice again as soon as possible. The arena was and will be again, the heart of our community.
